5 times,
since May of 1999, I have contacted ALL of the CT state legislators (House & Senate),
via Press Releases, as to various tobacco industry Fraud & False Claims issues that
defraud all 50 states of Billions of dollars annually in various Tax Revenues and Income
Streams.
-All 50 states Attorneys General have been informed, as well.
-In late 1997/early 1998, I conceived and had introduced for passage
HB5602, which represents what will be CT's first real protection against business
"false claims" similar to the protection most of the other states already have.
-The Atty. Gen'l. of CT spoke in vigorous favor of this Bill, knowing that there are many
businesses in CT that are not concerned about proper, ethical and legal business conduct.
-This Bill will allow CT to obtain business fraud & false claims practices they will
NEVER otherwise find out about.
-Because they are not being held accountable, tobacco companies
continue to defraud CT of approximately $11 MILLION Dollars per YEAR in various state Tax
Revenues, alone. -This is on top of the over $190 MILLION Dollars CT seems unwilling to
recover in past defrauded money.
-HB5602 has evolved into HB6942. -Special Interests have gotten into
it and seemingly gotten to some legislators, weakening both. -I have displayed both Bills
and the changes needed in HB6942, in The Shuster Project web site, allowing it to return
to legislation that provides CT a powerful platform from which to recover defrauded
moneys.
-People from all 50 states are asked to sign this petition as a
signal to their own legislators that the time for hiding their heads in the sand over
tobacco industry Fraud & False Claims issues is over.
-HB6942 MUST be passed this legislative session in CT. -Signatures on
this petition are a signal to all legislators that the time to address tobacco industry
Fraud & False Claims issues has arrived.
