Petition Recipients:

This Petition goes to papers in Connecticut, California and Florida.

Residents of Connecticut are encouraged to write their local newspapers, radio stations and television news stations and demand coverage on the issues of tobacco industry Fraud & False Claims that can be found in The Shuster Project web site at http://www.rxshuster.org

The Shuster Project introduced HB5602 (now RB6942), an Act Regarding False Claims in Connecticut, to the Judiciary Committee THREE LEGISLATIVE SESSIONS AGO, with a request by Attorney General Richard Blumenthal that it be passed.

It was NOT passed.

It is BEING IGNORED!

By signing this Petition, regardless of the state you live in, you are demanding that CT legislators PASS RB6942 and that their local newspapers cover this, too.

For California, perhaps the state with the largest number of smokers, readers of newspapers there may want to know why the IRS estimates that in excess of $500 MILLION DOLLARS in tobacco industry INCOME TAX FRAUD has occurred in just the past 4 decades, yet the IRS also is choosing to IGNORE the debt, REFUSING to take the necessary steps to recover that vast sum and correct the mechanics of the fraud which continues unabated.

And Florida readers, who saw their Attorney General complain of over 900,000 packs of cigarettes mailed to consumers and filed a lawsuit over that, but after being informed of vast sums of state income tax and sales tax owed the state by the tobacco companies with existing laws on the books to recover this huge amount of defrauded tax revenues, continues to do nothing about it, thus allowing the mechanics of the fraud being committed by the tobacco companies to continue.

By signing this Petition, each newspaper subscriber is demanding coverage in their local newspaper of both the existing, illustrated issues found within The Shuster Project web site and the new content that is added every 6-10 weeks.
