Dear Ken,

My staff and I continue to remain stunned by your avoidance in addressing the issues of tobacco industry fraud & false claims as they continue to affect CT.

In our last communiqué to you, quite a long time ago, you said then that you were "tied up" covering some elections that were occurring at the time we first alerted you to the work we were doing addressing tobacco industry fraud & false claims.

You said then that you would contact us shortly after things "calmed down," yet we never heard from you again.

The depth of the shock my senior staff continues to experience with respect to your avoidance of these tobacco industry fraud & false claims issues is based upon my assurance to them, as a result of the professional and in-depth coverage you had provided me when I was the head of the Andrew Avenue Homeowners Association with respect to the Laurel Park Landfill issue, that we would receive the same, high degree of professional journalism this time from you, yet that has yet to materialize.

At that time, where we had been extremely effective in preventing the flawed and faulty work being done there by the CT state DEP and were solely responsible for the dismantling of the dangerous and ineffective leachate collection system and insuring the proper reconstruction of it and it's safe flow through our neighborhood.

"The Shuster Project-Tobacco Industry Fraud & False Claims Issues" organization has identified in excess of $200+ MILLION DOLLARS in just CT state sale tax fraud & CT state income tax fraud, alone, committed by the tobacco companies doing business here.

"The Shuster Project-Tobacco Industry Fraud & False Claims Issues" organization has identified in excess of $4.5 BILLION DOLLARS in just state sales tax fraud & state income tax fraud, alone, committed by the tobacco companies doing business across the country in every state that has "minimum state pricing" statutes, which also includes CT.

At a time when there is a current $200+ million dollar CT state budget deficit and the CT legislature, every member of which, at one time, was alerted several times to the tobacco industry fraud & false claims being perpetrated here in CT alone yet did nothing about it, yet also passed a discriminatory 61 cent increase in the CT state sales tax on cigarettes when CT currently mismanages a flawed process of proper affixation and collection of it's CURRENT state sales tax on those products and doesn't take the necessary steps to FIX that process...all of this needs to be brought to the public's attention.

In September of 2000, StudyWeb.com bestowed upon The Shuster Project's web site (www.rxshuster.org/) it's Academic Excellence Award, thus certifying it's content applicable for inclusion into school curriculum's for Grades 12+ in the subjects of History and Social Studies for and in the topics of Criminal Justice and White Collar Crimes.

The focus of The Shuster Project-Tobacco Industry Fraud & False Claims has shifted dramatically as a result of this award, as we have begun to realize that teaching others in-depth about our work and making young adults who will develop into lawyers and judges and legislators armed with the knowledge of these crimes being committed by the tobacco companies will undoubtedly be the ones to finally address these issues and not just correct them but prosecute the tobacco companies as a result of those crimes.

This will be my final communication to you with respect to these issues as we will, from time to time, continue to make other journalists and media outlets aware of our work, thus giving other personalities the opportunity to address them.

It is my sincere hope and expectation that we will hear back from you soon; absent any excuses as to why you would continue to avoid these issues but when we can expect you to begin to tackle them along with us.

Regardless of what your decision may be ... to finally address these immense issues so that they can begin to be corrected and prosecuted, and that these enormous sums of defrauded states tax revenues are recovered and restored as they should and must be, or should you decide to continue to avoid them ... I will always continue to think of you as my friend and remain a friend to you.

Sincerely,

RXShuster
