Dear Meg,
Just taking a sec to touch base with you.
As you were pressed for time yesterday morning when I took a moment to say
"Hello" to you in an IM, I couldn't take the time to inform you that it is a
sort of "policy" of mine to shut off my Buddy List after my morning's computer
itinerary, as, for out of necessity, I have approximately 104 people in one category of my
Buddy List associated with The Shuster Project web site and a few dozen others in other
Lists with respect to Family and Friends.
Due to these large numbers of people in my Buddy List, the constant noise of them logging
on and off can get to be somewhat distracting as the day wears on, however, as I need to
be available to many people in the early hours of the morning and afternoon, it is an
acceptable necessity.
However, everyone knows, and now you do, too, that after approximately 1pm or so, I turn
my Buddy List off, and anyone that sees that I am online and needs to converse with me
just IM's me, as that need dictates.
I went off my main Screen Name for a while yesterday and, upon coming back into that
screen name, at approximately 3:30pm yesterday, I left it on to see if you were online,
which you were, as you stated you thought you wanted to converse with me via IM around
that time after you returned from your meeting from earlier that day.
I waited, albeit briefly, to see if you were going to IM me, but after a few minutes, when
it bacame apparent that you were busy with duties of your own, I logged off ... coming
back online occasionally a few times later, as I often do to check my Project e-mails and
other personal correspondence, and didn't see anything from you, prompting me to think
that your questions to me, if any, hadn't been compiled completely yet.
So, all of the above said, I believe we should construct a protocol by which whenever you
are online and notice my Rshus177 Screen Name on your Buddy List and you wish to IM me, by
all means do so.
Just please remember that always around 1pm I turn my Buddy List off so as to not be
distracted by the voluminous number of people in it logging on and off.
It will never be that I am "ignoring" or "avoiding" you, for as I'm
sure that you keep your Buddy List open for longer periods of time during the day than I
do, you will see when I may be online and have constant access to me.
So, concluding this "To-Your-Attention" correspondence, I wish you a Good Day
:o)
Sincerely,
Robb Shuster
