Letter to the Editor:

To The Citizens Of Naugatuck,

Since before May 14th of 1999, the Naugatuck, CT based "The Shuster Project-Tobacco Industry Fraud & False Claims Issues" Organization's Executive Director Robb Shuster had, in great detail, informed both Ron SanAngelo and Kevin DelGobbo, personally, about what at that time was well in excess of $290 MILLION DOLLARS in CT State Income Tax revenues and CT State Sales Tax revenues that were defrauded by the tobacco companies in just CT, alone.

That amount of defrauded CT Tax revenues now stands, conservatively, in excess of $310+ MILLION DOLLARS and continues to grow, unabated, thanks in great measure to both Ron SanAngelo and Kevin DelGobbo.

Prior to May 14th of 1999, both Kevin and Ron "promised" to do all that they could to assist "The Shuster Project" to address tobacco industry fraud and false claims crimes in CT, yet not once did either of them do a single thing to help address these enormous and hugely negative financial fraud crimes when asked to.

When "The Shuster Project" had conceived HB5602, later to become HB6942, "an act concerning the CT False Claims Act," and had that Bill up for consideration, both Ron SanAngelo and Kevin DelGobbo "promised" to appear along with "The Shuster Project’s" Exec. Director at the Judiciary Committee Hearing where this bill was being reviewed for passage, yet neither Ron nor Kevin showed up, despite my having spoken to Kevin on the Legislative Office grounds less than an hour before the hearing began.

I asked Kevin if both he and Ron were going to appear and speak along with me in favor of this important ... yet neither one did show up.

Even Attorney General Richard Blumenthal has both spoken and written in favor of this important legislation, yet both of Naugatuck's legislative representatives neglected to show up as they had "promised" to do.

So when you see these commercials on local cable TV or hear them on the radio or read them in the newspapers of how Ron SanAngelo "listens" to the people and "acts" in their better interest(s), do NOT believe that for a moment for Ron SanAngelo's "promises" are empty and quite worthless.

Even CT Governor Rowland, who for the longest time had also ignored the numerous "alerts" and correspondence sent to him and every CT legislator, regardless of party affiliation, regarding the huge sum of CT State Tax revenues being defrauded by these tobacco companies, has finally begun to investigate the information and materials we have long supplied to him and the others in regard to these tobacco industry fraud and false claims crimes, as a result of the numerous Petitions "The Shuster Project" has had signed on it's web site.

Just imagine how the recovery of $310+ MILLION DOLLARS could have with respect to improved care of the elderly, or the funding of how almost $2 MILLION DOLLARS to each of the 169 communities across CT could help in the budget cuts and deficits occurring across the State, or if that huge sum were put towards reducing the current CT State Budget Deficit, or if a large amount of it were put towards all of the education budget cuts taking place all across CT.

Ron SanAngelo didn't care at all about how the loss of $310+ MILLION DOLLARS affects the citizens of Naugatuck, never mind CT itself.

Clearly Ron SanAngelo doesn't care that these tobacco industry fraud and false claims crimes continue to be perpetrated across CT, unabated, thanks in great measure to his negligence in not addressing these issues, not helping in preventing these crimes from occurring or doing absolutely nothing to recover these huge sums of defrauded CT State tax revenues.

If Ron SanAngelo doesn’t care or listen to a credible and reputable Organization based in his own hometown about keeping his promises to help in recovering hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars in defrauded CT State Tax revenues and did nothing to help in their recovery as a CT State legislator, it is clear that he is not going to listen or care about “local” issues or be any kind of a responsible, fiscal manager and does not deserve to be Mayor of Naugatuck.

As more and more people are becoming aware of "The Shuster Project" and our Award-winning web site at: http://www.rxshuster.org/, it's little wonder that Ron SanAngelo lost his bid to become CT's Secretary of State.

I encourage you to visit "The Shuster Project's" web site and see for yourself exactly how many CT State legislators are ignoring these huge fraud and false claims crimes for reasons only they are aware of, for they continue to duck addressing these issues in direct opposition to the better interests of the citizens of Naugatuck, specifically, and the citizens of CT, in general.

Although "The Shuster Project" will never endorse a candidate for office, we have, on occasion, spoken out against the candidacy of certain individuals when their negligence in regard to these issues is so tremendous, as it is with Ron SanAngelo.

There are other, more deserving candidates to consider in the race for Mayor of Naugatuck and I strongly urge you to consider them on Election Day.

Sincerely,

Robb Shuster
