(Please Note: This letter is dated 6/8/02)

Dear Steve,
You aren't the first ones who have found that a significant number of pages from The Shuster Project web site are prominent with all of the search engines, including some pages that were letters written from our web site guests on topics that we either cover in whole, in part or not at all, but it is our long-standing policy that we respond to each and every correspondence we receive.
In the case of tobacco industry litter, I have sent you the link which shows the specific category of extreme-tonnage tobacco industry waste and litter, so there is no need to revisit that again with you.

You are only correct that you may encourage smokers to take responsibility for their litter by promoting your ashtray devices, but, unfortunately, it is going to take far, far more than just that to force the tobacco companies to address their criminal activities in that regard with respect to the fraud involved with their corporate policies on defrauding municipalities with their illegal refuse disposal tactics and as I said before, any "friendly" association they may choose to take with your organization would be and could only be strictly an attempt to divert attention from their many illegal activities in that regard.
You have the link to the page in our site that differentiates simple, thoughtless consumer butt-tossing from extreme-tonnage corporate waste disposal fraud on a massive scale.

I thought it was worth pointing out to you that our offer to your organization in asking for several hundred of those ashtray devices for distribution to consumers here, from our web site, would be with your logo on them, promoting your web site and your work.
My staff and I saw it as a professional courtesy on our part to give you and your organization a leg up over here.

I'm glad that at least you have decided to keep an open mind with respect to possible cooperation and affiliation somewhere down the road, and I hope that you will immediately reconsider sending even just a few hundred of your ashtray devices with your logo and web address on them so that, by distributing them to consumers that participate in our grassroots programs within our web site, can receive one of your ashtray devices from us and get to know about you and your web site and the work you are doing.
I can see that as an immediate and worthwhile project of cooperation, but I can't make those choices for you.

In closing and addressing your closing statement about the letter within our web site that prompted you to contact my organization, I am now very clear about that letter Chris wrote to us.

Here is the link to the letter I wrote back to him:
http://www.rxshuster.org/responsetochris.htm

Of course, now I can see that you somehow thought that you were responding to him directly and not to our Award-winning web site, necessarily.
What you should know, however, is that that page doesn't just go "nowhere" because at the bottom of each and every web page in our site, including the single submission letters we receive and post in our site, just below the "Get 1-On-1" Logo and text near the bottom of every page is a link to our Home Page, or the previous page a visitor to our site was viewing, found in a link that looks a lot like this: {Home}{UP}

I just wanted you to know that whenever you wind up within the pages of our Project's web site again as the result of another search engine find.

I hope that you will, in fact, send us some of those ashtray devices branded with your logo and web address and that you do, indeed, keep us in mind somewhere down the road for I can see much good coming from mutual exchange programs.

I don't see much sense in keeping a running dialogue going in the absence of any mutual exchange efforts between my organization and you, so you needn't feel obligated to respond to this correspondence unless and until such an exchange(s) takes place (i.e., the ashtray devices being provided to us, banner exchange(s), etc.).

Continued to luck in your efforts!
Sincerely,
RXShuster
