Response to the Question 1:
"What were the key forces, that lead the tobacco-industry to globalization?"
I need a couple of clarifications from you in some of the terms you have used.
1.) Clarify "key forces" better to indicate an example or two of the
"forces" you refer to...
2.) Clarify "globalization" as you understand the term to mean in the context in
which you seem to be using it...
At first blush, I can safely say that profits were their first "motivation" in
establishing the sales and distribution of cigarette and tobacco product sales into
countries all over the world.
Secondly, I can say that the lack of health regulated safety warnings on packaging and in
advertisements and the restrictions of those advertisements in many of the eastern
european, pacific rim and far east markets are the catalyst for far more sales they
receive than in those countries that have strict health-warning label restrictions and
regulated or controlled advertising.
Beyond sheer opportunism and the lack of adequate controls to regulate sales to minors,
the elderly, the sick and uninformed, I would have to say those reasons are enough to
allow massive proliferation of the unregulated sales of tobacco products around the
world...especially in the countries and cultures and societies I have mentioned.
