With the 2002-2003 School Year in full swing, The Shuster Project is pleased to introduce "LEGACIES© Project" as a new component of it's curriculum content. "LEGACIES© Project" is a bold initiative designed to introduce students to the idea of "legacy-building" as a perspective to their every day lives, in terms of enhancing their self-esteem by realizing that one needn't be a "star" jock or a member of the Honor Society, necessarily, to achieve recognition for contributing in a positive way to society. Perhaps volunteering at a local Nursing Home or Hospital, helping out at a local Dog Pound with outside cleaning chores or even helping elderly neighbors with yardwork or providing them with companionship, while learning from them of past values, decency and honor. It might be getting together, in small groups, and "adopting" certain neighborhoods or areas of their towns in need of being cleaned of litter and then maintaining those areas on a regular basis. It's easy to see, now, where this is leading and The Shuster Project is proud and pleased to introduce "LEGACIES© Project" for either school class projects, small gatherings of friends getting together to initiate local Legacies© Projects among themselves or even individual students and young people setting up Legacies© Projects on their own. We encourage you to keep detailed journals of your various Legacies© Projects and correspond with us so that your efforts can be displayed within this section of The Shuster Project web site. For some artistic and arts-oriented young people, perhaps writing a book, novella or screenplay, creating a video drama or presentation and/or painting or sketching may translate into a Legacies© Project for you. We'd ask you to consider forwarding those to us, including digital pictures of any artwork, for display within The Legacies© Project pages. The Shuster Project staff plans to "evolve" The Legacies© Project section to eventually dispense Awards and other recognition's for those young people engaging in Legacies© Projects, to include Certificates of Achievement, a "Special Mention" section, among other self-esteem builders, so we encourage you and your school(s) to begin implementing Legacies© Projects right away! It doesn't have to be more exclusively within the realm of the older adult segment of our society that the term "Legacy," or thinking of one's Legacy should necessarily somehow exclude students, teenaged students, college-aged and young adults by virtue of an absence of Legacy-building behaviors and activities. Youngsters and young adults are capable of greatness and great deeds if only counseled, encouraged and inspired to dream ... use their imagination ... assist them to make bold initiatives for what can only enhance their own lives and the lives of others by virtue of their participation IN and FOR those lives. With so much sorrow, anger, crime and violence in the world today, The Shuster Project has long been committed to leading the way to more righteousness, logic, good and good will and to bring about a greater balance of these qualities as opposed to the negativity we read in our newspapers and view on our televisions. The Shuster Project hopes that the schools across the country and groups and individual young people acknowledge what we are trying to promote with "LEGACIES© Project" and participate in huge numbers! Being "kind" and "compassionate" and doing good things for our fellow humankind and other species are far more powerful and potent than any weapon or any war should ever be ... Let's "Show the World" and "Lead the Way" ...
