This is a copy of a fax that was sent through www.truemajority.org expressing the views of
"The Shuster Project" with respect to large conglomerates/corporations
swallowing up small/smaller media outlets, thus controlling the "news" that YOU
and I read/hear/see.

To CT Senator's Dodd & Lieberman,
I was very disappointed on June 2
when the FCC rolled back rules governing media ownership that were meant to increase the
opportunities for citizens to get fair and balanced information. Although the FCC received
hundreds of thousands of comments from people objecting to the new rules allowing media
cross-ownership, the appointees chose to ignore the public in favor of media moguls.
I
am asking you, as my Senator, to support legislation offered in the Commerce Committee
this week that reverses a number of the new FCC rules. I would also like you to support
the amendment sponsored by Senators Dorgan and Snowe that reinstates newspaper/broadcast
cross-ownership restrictions. These pieces of legislation are a needed first step in
ensuring that the airwaves owned by the people are used to help the people, not just the
corporations that use them to broadcast.
As the Executive Director of
the Award-winning "The Shuster Project" at: http://www.rxshuster.org/ I have
personally witnessed how the malaise within the Justice Department, State and Federal
legislators and the "mainstream media" have ALL ignored tobacco industry fraud
and false claims crimes that total well into the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS and continue to be
perpetrated in every state in the United States, yet not one legislator nor one newspaper
nor one television news station nor one radio news station will carry our Press Releases
to the General Public.
If large corporations are
able to absorb smaller news organizations into their "bottom line" then the
American people are at an immediate risk of receiving "homogenized" tripe that
wouldn't be worth the newsprint it was written on.
The danger is immediate ...
the danger is NOW!
Sincerely,
Robb Shuster
