Dear Mr.
Kiener: As a former
tobacco company representative, I have unique insight into how exploitive tobacco
advertising can be to It is
deplorable that a magazine such as yours accepts tobacco ad monies. Even as a
tobacco company representative, I thought the same...and I was employed by the American
Tobacco Company for over 17 years. Point-Of-Sale
advertising is all that should be allowed, if any, to promote the sale of tobacco products
to adults. As a former
smoker, I do not assume to place the burden of quitting to any adult, however, assisting
children from starting can be as simple as you simply refusing to accept tobacco ads, thus
keeping children from at least having those exposures from their view. They get
dozens each day as it is. Please
respond to me either by fax at 801-705-3078 or by phone at 203-723-9266 or my mailing
address or email at rshus177@aol.com to indicate what you intend to do about accepting
tobacco ad money. I will be
interested to hear back on your decision. Sincerely,
